Reykjavik and Akureyri have an amazing range of restaurants combining both styles from around the world and also cuisine/dishes native to Iceland.  As those know that have tried know, the food served in Icelandic restaurants is of high quality and you can also count on the home made food to be pretty good, so if invited, go.

Iceland’s two main strong resources food-wise is the fish and the wild Icelandic lamb, we reccommend trying both when in eating out in Iceland. Like many things in Iceland, the restaurants benefit from the open-mindedness of the Icelandic people and the willingness of the culture to adapt foreign tastes to its own. Icelanders may be modest about many things, but food is not one of them.

Ethnic restaurants can be found in great variety, you'll have no trouble finding Italian or French cuisine and even Danish or Turkish.  For Asian food in Iceland, there are quite a number of Chinese, Thai and Indian restaurants and you can get Sushi from the
many seafood restaurants and specialty restaurants in downtown Reykjavik.
