Aluminium level sensor

Aluminum slab casting using conventional level sensing methods can result in poor uniformity, consistency, slab-butt shape and an overall drop in surface quality and aluminum quality of the cast
as a whole. Stimir's TMMS 200 Metal Level Sensor was designed to alleviate some of the problems associated with level sensing during aluminum casting. The TMMS 200 has been in use for over 7 years now in smelters across Europe giving great results and increasing the quality of slabs produced by those smelters. 

Some of the main principles put forth when designing the TMMS 200 were durability, precision and efficiency. The TMMS 200 is a highly sensitive and accurate non-contact displacement sensor on a mobile arm with an accuracy of ±0.5 mm. The arm of the sensor descends and ascends by a step motor controlled by a computer depending on the distance of the metal from the sensor's head. The computer constantly measures the real metal level, calculating the status of the arm and the measured signal from the sensor head with utmost precision. Stimir’s TMMS 200 Metal Level Sensors adjustable arm uses robust, precise ball-bearing support giving it added precision and smooth movement.

Stub Sawing Macine

Stimir hf. has designed a ground braking automated stub sawing machine that uses a band saw instead of circular sawing blades or a torch. This gives multiple benefits including energy con-
servation, noise reduction, cleaner cutting surfaces, much cheaper and easier replacement of  primary cutting mechanism and more.

The design principles behind Stimir's Collar Mounting Machine was efficiency, speed and compactness, not to mention accuracy. Stimir's Collar Mounting Machine uses step motors for critical movements instead of pneumatic controls for increased precision. Special methods are used to prevent the formation of slack in the collar material and thus assumes optimal material usage. The machine also uses special sensors to detect the rods and their exact position on the conveyor and attaches the collars onto the rods in vertical position in a short time span.
