Your Whale Watching adventure begins in north Iceland by Husavik harbour, from where we navigate to the center of Skjalfandibay. Every tour is begun by addressing on-board safety reglulations and passangers are showed how to take necessary security measures; because although this trip is an adventure, we take no risk when it comes to our passengers. Please, also notice the demonstration of how to "interpret" where a whale has been spotted.

Hvalaskóðun á Húsavík - Hvalamiðstöð

This is a game and an adventure we need and want all to participate in. There is never a dull moment on board the 20 tonn oakvessel Faldur, since our crew has a wide experience of the sea, history and adventure and they will illustrate the birdlife and colonisation of the bay and Husavik, while we sail to the spot where the whales mostly reside. Now the fun really begins because now it is a team effort of everyone on-board to find the whales. This can be a very exciting part of the trip for the younger members of our passenger team, their young and hawk-eyed sight is expecially helpful locating whales in some distance. When you or any party of your team sees an whale, be sure to yell it out load to notify the other passengers and the captain, who will either steam right to the location of the whale or immediately allow the oakvessel float for better view, enjoyment, and experience of the incredible creatures of the sea.

We allow plenty of time for picture opportunities and if you need more time, let us know. You can expect to see several species the Skjalfandibay, such as Minke whale, humpback whale, dolphins, (sea hog dolpin) and whalebone whale. During the steam back we offer light refreshments, hot chocolate and
homemade "kleina", which is probably the oldest kind of Icelandic coffeecake.
