painting that belongs to your era -or your week. Each day of the Rune Calendar
is in an exclusive setting, printed on a high quality paper. (Size: A4 21
x 29.7 cm. (8.3 x 11.7 in.). It is available in English, German and of course
Icelandic!
RUNES OF THE VIKINGS
What does your birthday rune look like or what does it mean? What do the runes
say about your birthday or your kinsmen, friends, colleges or business? The
sisters (witches - The Fates); URDUR, VERDANDI and SKULD weaved up the fate
onto ones web of destiny, and handed out the Day Runes to each newly born
child at URDARBRUNNUR, (the WELL of URDUR), which was based at the tree of
life itself; YGGDRASILL, or the Milky Way. And it is also believed that they
gave eachchild its personality or character. So take a look!
Haukur Halldórsson "The Hawk"
Haukur Halldórsson was born at Stóri Ás, Seltjarnarnesi 4. July 1937. In his
early days he worked in variation of jobs from land to sea until he started
to study art at the Reykjavik School of Arts and in Copenhagen, Denmark. He
has held number of exhibitions here and abroad. Haukur has decorated many
books including the Icelandic Folk stories and a book about the Icelandic
horse. Haukur often gets his ideas from Icelandic folk stories, old tails
and brings them to life. |
ASTRONOMY OF THE VIKINGS
The Vikings as we know them did not use our traditional astronomy, but had
periods protected by the gods of VALHALLA and ASGARDUR, where the gods and
goddesses shared the year and ruled the seasons.
