By the seaside, in Icelandic; Viğ fjöruborğiğ, is a restaurant true to it's name, specializing in lobster, fresh from the ocean on the very doorstep. The lobster is served sizzling warm in the pan, with sidedishes of vegetables of your choice, suggested by the owner, who has a heart somewhat warmer than the surroundings. So she looks south and goes for Italian style peppers, Tunisian couscous, Mediterranian salads, tomatoes and greeneries, along with the ever so good grilled potatoes. This is a no nonsense place based on plain ingredients and breeze from the sea.
You will find this restaurant in the fishing village Stokkseyri, on the south shore about 40 minutes drive from Reykjavík. Close to the main highway and not far from sights like the waterfall Gullfoss and the one and only Geysir, it is a place of strange beauty. Insiders clame the coast just east of Stokkseyri is worth a moment, with it's skerries, islands and lagoons. They are not people to exaggurate.
